THE PEOPLE OF: "Lysistrata" by Aristophanes, in a modern translation April 4 April 27, 2008 --
PRODUCTION MANAGER: Eric Dickman - Eric is back having fun at Burien Little Theatre. As production manager he is trained to respond to any question about spending money with, What part of No, dont you understand? Really, he says Yes once in a while. This cast and crew has been a non-stop laugh fest with double-entendres coming one on top of another. If your life could use a little more oomph, why not volunteer at Burien Little Theatre?
DIRECTOR: Maggie Larrick - Maggie has acted, directed, stage-managed and done whatever needed to be done in Seattle fringe theaters, including Triad Ensemble and Theatre Schmeatre. Her work with Burien Little Theatre began in 2006 as assistant director and stage manager of the hit productions Sylvia and Angry Housewives. Maggie also served as associate producer for Sylvia and producer for Angry Housewives, and Ms. Bob Cratchit's Wild Christmas Binge. She directed a new play Dazzle Your Eyes for BLT's 2006 Bill and Peggy Hunt Playwrights' Festival. She then directed Art for BLT's 2006-07 season. Other hats Maggie has worn at BLT include publicity guru, stagehand and properties collector/creator. Maggie thanks her cast for their energy, committment and bringing her chocolate.
STAGE MANAGER: Michelle Rodriguez - Michelle is happy to be back with Burien Little Theatre for her second show this season. She stage managed Dracula here in the Fall. Since returning to Seattle from Los Angeles, she has stage managed in and around Seattle for Greenstage, Centerstage Theatre, and most recently for the Knutzen Family Theatre's production of Thugs: A Musical Mafiasco. Many thanks to all her friends and family (also known as the people she occasionally sees between rehearsals), & especially to Tom for putting up with her crazy schedule.
CAST:
Commissioner - Brian Kiger - This is Brians first on stage appearance for Burien Little Theatre. Recently, Brian returned to the Seattle stage after a lengthy hiatus in Die Hamletmashine and by lending his mad ninja skills backstage at BLT. Brian had been in such fantastic productions in high school and community college as Guys & Dolls, Noises Off!, Much Ado About Nothing and Crazy For You before studying acting in earnest at Central Washington University, where he earned his BA in Theatre Arts. While there, Brian appeared in How I Learned to Drive, Tartuffe, Working, and Much Ado About Nothing (again?), as well as a one-act festival or two. In what is laughingly called his free time, Brian enjoys singing karaoke in cheap dive bars and is progressing ever so slowly in learning to play the guitar. Brian would like to thank all his family and friends who never stopped believing in him, supporting him through hard times, and not so gently nudging him back to the stage.
Kinesias - Joey McGuire - Joey was last seen as Renfield in BLT's production of Dracula. A graduate of the University of Missouri Conservatory of Music in Kansas City, he began his journey in the arts as an opera singer, appearing with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Civic Opera Theatre of KC, and the Inspiration Point Fine Arts Colony. Variety being the spice of life, he spent much of that time perfecting his craft as a professional makeup artsit, at which time he left the performing life behind to work backstage. He has designed makeup and wigs for The Kansas City Lyric Opera, Coterie Childrens Theatre, Civic Opera Theatre of KC, Atlanta Ballet, UMKC Conservatory, Burien Little Theatre as well as spending time as a trainer for MAC Cosmetics and now holding the position of Color Specialist for Sephora. Since relocating to Seattle, he joined the Seattle Mens Chorus and begun the long journey to becoming a lifelong member of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence at the Abbey of St. Joan. In his spare time he does nothing seeing as he doesnt actually have any...spare time, that is. And hopefully, Phyliss is somewhere enjoying the show.
Kleonike - Laurie Winogrand - Laurie is happy to again be playing with the BLT crowd. Favorite past roles include Mistress Quickly in Henry IV Parts 1 & 2 with Greenstage; Hedda Hopper in Christmas with the Crawfords and Breve (a Romulan, not the coffee drink) in Star Drek, the Musical both with now defunct theatres (it wasnt my fault!). She has also appeared in two (count em, two) zombie movies Gory Gory Hallelujah! and Snow Day, Bloody Snow, Day. She thanks her husband, Don, for his steadfast love and support, her wonderful castmates for sharing the stage with her, and the critters for their unconditional love and grooming assistance.
Koryphaios of Old Men - William Philips - Will was last seen at BLT in Isnt It Romantic? as the frustrated Doctor/boyfriend in 1998. Before that he played Master Jacques in The Miser in 1993. A graduate of the now defunct National Shakespeare Conservatory Theatre in New York City, Will has been active in Community Theater around the Seattle area. His last role was Inspector Hound for Stone Soup Theater. The summer before that he played Sir Sagramore in Camelot for Snoqualmie Falls Forest Theater. Before that it was Mr. Humphrey, a victimized priest, in See How They Run for Valley Community Players in Renton in 2005. Will lives in Shoreline with his girlfriend Martha and works at Microsoft in their recycling department. He has a degree in drafting and design from ITT Technical Institute.
Koryphaios of Old Women / Young Woman / Ismenia - Telisa Steen - Telisa is excited to be back at BLT for another show. Favorite past roles include: Mina in Dracula at BLT, and Sonya in Uncle Vanya with Seattle Novyi Theatre. Telisa is committed to her life purpose of expressing truth and experience through acting. To support her creativity she enjoys studying ballet, meditating, seeing as much theatre as possible, and living in the moment. She would like to express her gratitude to her friends and family for being an incredible support system, and to her Dad, for teaching her about living life to the fullest.
Lampito / Old Woman - Kirsten McCory - Kirsten is excited about working in the 1950's again in Lysistrata, since her last project was a reading of the 1951 film All About Eve with New Amerikan Theatre. She has lived in Seattle since 1990 and trained at Freehold Theatre Lab. Thanks to the cast and Jeremy and Clair.
Lysistrata - Dana Rice - Burien audiences may remember Dana from past BLT productions Kate in Sylvia, Eileen in The Cripple of Inishmaan, Gloria in Grace & Glorie and Sybil in An Inspector Calls. Other regional credits include Wendi in Angry Housewives, Marilla in Anne of Green Gables and Marmee in Little Women. Dana is grateful to the wonderful family of artists who are making BLT a very nice place for live theatre to happen.
Myrrhine - Kristin Alexander - When Kristin Alexander was young, her mother sometimes called her Sarah. While undoubtedly poking fun at Kristinas dramatic flair, the nickname was a reference to Sarah Bernhardt. Its possible she also had a premonition. A fifth-generation Washingtonian, Kristin has since performed throughout the state on stages, in parks and even in an Italian bistro, and she is excited to make her first appearance at Burien Little Theatre. Other favorite roles include Adriana in Shakespeares Comedy of Errors and Poopay in Alan Ayckbournes Communicating Doors. When not in the spotlight, Kristin frequently can be found in the audience as a theater critic. An award-winning journalist and public relations expert, she knows the news biz from both sides. She raises a glass in devotion to Bacchus and in honor of Maggie, the cast and crew.
Old Man (Chipper) - Eric Smiley - Eric has been involved in the Fringe Theater in Seattle in DAMN (Dramatists and Actors Meeting Now) and more currently WARP (Writers and Actors Reading and Performing) and enjoys writing and producing various pieces.
Old Man (Swifty) - John Lynch - John is thrilled to be back at BLT after a 7 year absence. Johns BLT credits include The Scarlet Pimpernel, Chicago, and one of his all time favorite roles was playing Starbuck in The Rain Maker. John has been an actor for over 20 years and has performed all over the Seattle area on stage and screen. He was the "F" guy in a Washington State Dental commercial for there 2007 dental heath campaign. He was last seen on stage in The New Space theaters production of The Woolgather last November. In addition for the past 10 years John has been an active member of The Society of American Fight Directors. When not on stage he is often found behind the scenes choreographing fights for theaters. His most recent fight credits include KPC's production of Oliver and Renton Civics's Complete Works of Shakespeare Abridged. John would like to thank his family and friend's for there continued support. Enjoy the show.
Old Woman / Young Woman / Police Officer - Melissa Malloy - Melissa is making her Seattle debut here on the BLT stage, and what a show to start out in. She recently moved out here from Colorado where she graced the stage in such roles as Rose in Dancing at Lughnasa, Widow Corney in Oliver!, and Betty in Sure Thing. She was heavily involved with Theater Masters, Defience Players, Rock the Boat Dinner Theater, and CMC Theater both on stage and off. Melissa would like to thank her Mom and Dad for giving her the courage (and the money) to pursue her dreams and for always being there when they were needed.
Peace - Emily Cappel - Emily never knew she was so peaceful until she ended two wars. A veteran Peace from Troupe Du Jour's Lysistrata last spring, this is Emily's first show at Burien Little Theatre. She is pleased to be working with such a talented group. Some favorite roles include; Helena in A Midsummer NIght's Dream, Kate in Bedroom Farce, and Ophelia/Jesus in Die Hamletmachine. She would like to thank Mok for all his love and support.
Police Officer / Spartan Herald - PJ Perry - PJ wanted to do a little theater this Spring. So, he was thrilled to be cast by BLT. He loves scripts with the dust of ages and those where the ink is still wet. On stage, he enjoyed playing a Pooh-Bah and a Russian Grand Master in Tim Rices Class. Offstage, he has written and directed the one-acts Every Time a Bell Rings and As Chance Would Have It. PJ also spent three summers at Shakespeare at Snoqualmie Falls. He thanks Michelle for constantly reminding him to get his bio in on time.

Set Designer: John Flynn - John works with wood and steel, creating artworks and projects for family and friends. You may remember the fantastic set he designed and built for Visiting Mr. Green and his metal handiwork in Dracula. He hopes you enjoy the show!
Scenic Designer: Mikki Kunz - Mikki is a 2005 graduate of Central Washington University in Ellensburg, WA. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Technical Theatre design, with emphasis on set design, light design, and technical direction, and also has a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design. Her set design and technical work include: Hay Fever, West Side Story, Cabaret, Concrete Dreams, The Wine Odyssey and The Betty Evans One Act Festival, including two touring shows, Jungal Book, and Charlotte's Web. She is also Vice President on the Board of Directors for Theatre Schmeater in Capitol Hill.
Lights: Dave Baldwin - This is Davids sevond production with BLT. David is a graduate of Cornish College of the Arts Theatre program some 20 odd years ago. Since then David has worked professionally as an electrician at the Seattle Childrens Theatre, the New City Theatre, The Broadway Performance Hall, Anchorage Civic Opera and Intiman, where David was also the Technical Director during the messy Peter Pan years. David has designed either sets or lights at just about every theater in Seattle that was converted from a (fill in the blank) and seats under 75. David considers himself to be the very best third rate lighting designer in his early 40s in a 10 square mile area.
Sound: Allan Loucks - Allan is a composer and musician whose compositional credits range from symphonies to film, TV, theatre, concert, dance, choral, and computer games. He also has many years of full-time on-the-road performing experience. You may remember his work on Dracula earlier this season.
Costumer: Sheri Barr - Sheri has been sewing most of her life. When she was 10 years old, her grandmother helped her with her first attempt to sew a dress. In high school and college, home economics was an easy A so Sheri took it every year since it brought up her grade-point average. In college, she had a period of toying with majoring in home economics, but in her nutrition class, her class project of depriving mice of a nutrient went south as her mouse had babies and ate them. (Sheri might not have received an A that quarter.) She is a third-generation seamstress with her paternal grandmother being a lifetime quilter, hat maker, and doll clothes designer. Sheris maternal grandmother did laundry for a living, taught Sheri how to use a mangle and in her spare time was a doily artist. This is Sheris fourth play at BLT with Dracula being the first. Sheri is very pleased not have to wash fake blood off of the costumes from this show every night.
Properties: Heather Sarver - This is Heathers first show with Burien Little Theatre. She is very excited to be trying something new as props master. In the past she has done several shows with the Tacoma Musical Playhouse running their soundboard and spotlight. She is happy to be back in the theatre and hopes that this is the first of many shows with Burien Little Theatre.
